‘Shambles’, Sunil Gavaskar rips apart Rohit Sharma and Co. after poor batting show in WTC Final

Team India lost 7 wickets for 70 on Day 5 as they got bundled out for 234.

IND vs AUS: Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has lambasted India batting line-up for their poor performance in WTC 2023 Final. Gavaskar stated that the nervousness to reach personal milestone got better off the Indian batters. Notably, Australia completed thumping victory over India by 209 runs as they add another ICC trophy in their cabinet.

“The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and even Ajinkya Rahane got out playing loose strokes. They were reaching milestones and that might have been in playing in their minds ” Gavaskar said during commentary at Star Sports.

“I think it’s a couple of misjudgments from probably like Shubman Gill, who has been in great form. Losing him was a big blow. Rohit Sharma has not been in the best of touches in the IPL,” he added.

Chasing 444 to win, Indian batters failed to capitalise the start. The likes of Rohit, Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane perished playing loose shots. All these batters were in their 40s when they got out.

Off spinner Nathan Lyon picked a four-fer and Scott Boland scalped three wickets while rest of the bowling line-up also chipped in. Travis Head was adjudged Player of the Match for his stunning century in the first innings of the match.
