As of now reports state that the blow to India skipper is not so serious one. But if it turns out to be serious, then Rohit might miss the summit finale against Australia.

If Rohit does not play the WTC Final, then Cheteshwar Pujara will step in as captain. He is the designated vice-captain and should lead India in Rohit’s absence. In the opening role, India have Ishan Kishan too. The southpaw has opened in T20Is and ODIs for India. However, India would be hoping Rohit fully recovers from the thumb injury and leads India again for WTC.
Not only the skipper has vast leadership experience, but he is also one of the vital batters in the team. Rohit also had scored a century at the Oval the last time India played against England.
