Maharashtra Premier League: All the six teams of the Maharashtra Premier League have received a mouth watering franchisee fee of 57.80 crores for the MPL that has been promoted by the Maharashtra Cricket Association. The upcoming cricketing event is set to be held from the 15th of June. Such has been the price of the icon players of the teams that even IPL prices fall short.
The President of the MCA, Mr. Rohit Pawar claimed that the much anticipated auction saw 20 corporates and business houses taking part where the 6 franchisee teams would participate.

Pawar said, “We had kept a base price of Rs 1 crore per year for three years for the six teams expecting a minimum value of Rs 18 crore for the MPL. But we inturn received a record franchise fees of whopping Rs 57.80 crore for six teams for thre years after the teams were auctioned today”.
Pawar added, “We followed a completely transparent process to buy the ownership through open bid system.”

The Pune franchisee bagged Ruturaj Gaikwad as their start player after buying him and the franchisee for a staggering sum of 14.8 crores. On the other hand, the franchisee based out of Kohlapur worth a whopping sum of 11 crores bought Kedar yadav.
India youngster Rajvardhan Hangargekar was roped in by the Sambhajinagar Franchise, whose total budget is a sum of 8.7 crores.
“We are committed to making the League profitable for all the Team Owners. The money collected at the Auction will be used for the betterment of cricket in Maharashtra.” added Mr Pawar
He further added, “The MCA will strive for the upliftment of the sport of cricket in Maharashtra, giving an opportunity to young and upcoming talent showcase their skill at such a great platform.”
