Ferrari all-set to roll out Red Bull-Style Sidepods in Spanish GP

Ferrari F1 team is going through a bit of rough patch in 2023 so far owing to the draggy SF-23 and they are counting their hopes on the latest upgrades

Ferrari F1 team is going through a bit of rough patch in 2023 so far owing to the draggy SF-23. In the six races this season so far, the Red Team is living more often in troughs and minimal crests. The duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are finding it burdensome to extract performance from the current car. Many critics say this might be because it doesn’t quite exist on the scale that was initially predicted. However, they would be hoping to turn things around in Spain, a home race for Sainz. So far, the duo stands 6th and 7th in the drivers’ standing with the Spaniard leading the two. As opposed to that, the team is currently 4th in the constructors’ fight. Initially, the team planned to bring in updates at their home turf during the Emilia Romagna GP. They primarily planned to twitch their rear suspension by adjusting ride height, giving them a better downforce.

However, owing to its unfortunate cancellation, the upgrades got delayed till Spain, as Monaco isn’t traditionally considered an ideal track for the same. Now, as the much-anticipated Spanish GP weekend has arrived, Ferrari is all set to roll out some extraordinary upgrades in the SF-23. The initial reports have suggested a change in their sidepod concept. As per the sources, the new sidepods will be much closer to those of chief rival Red Bull, or to Aston Martin will some extent.

We are not expecting any miracles: Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc

Insidesport

Ferrari man Charles Leclerc recently talked about the changes that’ll unfold in Spain. The Monegasque is having a season to forget so far. In his 6 races, Leclerc has just managed 42 points, which is terrifyingly low if we go by the last years’ numbers. Though his fans are hoping for a turnaround, the 24-year old is taking a more pragmatic stance on the situation.

When asked about the new sidepods and other updates, Leclerc responded by saying, “We are not expecting any big miracles, to be honest, From now on, we want to try and bring some small upgrades every race. This one should go in the right direction. But I don’t think it will be a massive change.”
