A furious Mourinho had to be restrained on the touchline shortly before the final whistle when Nemanja Matic’s tumble ignited Sevilla’s bench, which in turn roused Mourinho. After making comments in the post-match press conference that implied Taylor and his colleagues were biassed because they “seemed Spanish,” the Portuguese was already going to be in hot water. It was already anticipated that such remarks would be mentioned in the official Uefa match delegate’s report and that a brief suspension would follow.
