Who won the TUF season between Team McGregor and Team Faber?
The short answer is no, Team McGregor did not come out on top this season. In the end, Team Faber won the competition, claiming fighters in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions.
The Ultimate Fighter 22 was not without its fair share of drama and controversy. Team McGregor appeared to have the upper hand early on, winning six out of nine matches in the season.
This left only three fighters from Team Faber in the quarter-finals, two of whom were eliminated in the quarters.
Just when it seemed like the stage was set for the Ultimate Fighter 22 finale between two Team McGregor fighters, a sudden turn of events flipped the script.
Saul Rodgers, who had secured his spot in the finale with a victory in the semi-finals, was removed from the competition due to visa-related issues.
It was discovered that he had provided false information on his visa application, preventing him from traveling to the United States. As a result, the UFC made the decision to replace Rodgers with Ryan Hall, the fighter he had defeated in the quarter-finals, in order to keep the finale on track.
Ryan Hall, representing Team Faber, was determined to restore his team’s honor in The Ultimate Fighter 22 finale. With a commanding performance, he left no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was the superior fighter, winning all three rounds of the bout against Artem Lobov. In fact, two of the judges were so impressed with Hall’s dominance that they scored one of the rounds 10-8 in his favor.
With this impressive victory, Hall single-handedly dashed the hopes and dreams of Team McGregor, securing the tournament victory for Team Faber. Watch Ryan Hall’s Octagon Interview below
Despite the disappointing loss in the finale, McGregor’s coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter 22 showed that he had the skills and knowledge to lead a team to success.
