To note, many fans criticized the removal of Jadeja from the mid-season captaincy. Jadeja then left the CSK camp and there was talk of a rift in his relationship with Dhoni. Last year there were also reports that the franchise could release Jadeja from the team. But Dhoni had an eye on all these things and with understanding he entered into a relationship with Jadeja and took the initiative to melt the frozen ice.
In IPL 2023, Jadeja had expressed his disappointment over the fans wanting him to get out so that they can see Dhoni bat. To note, the Indian all-rounder was also seen having a heated exchange with Dhoni during a group stage game against Delhi Capitals where he bowled poorly. It was followed by a cryptic tweet, but with the business end of the IPL coming up, the flames were doused.
In the final match against GT, the duo of Dhoni and Jadeja gave the first and big blow to the Titans as the CSK skipper whipped the bails behind the stumps to send Shubman Gill packing. In the second innings, Jadeja smoked back to back bouundaries to Mohit Sharma in the last over to help his side win the finals.
“Jadeja had to come back from some difficult captaincy and injury issues to reintegrate into the CSK team. MS has been extremely supportive and proactive in getting him up there. And today he repaid his faith,” coach Stephen Fleming said, explaining the Dhoni-Jadeja chemistry that did wonders for CSK.
