William Saliba: Another day, another rumor of PSG being interested in a player. This time, it seems as though they have their eyes set on Arsenal’s young French defender, William Saliba. He has been the bedrock of Arsenal’s defense as they finished second in the Premier League this season. His contract ends next year and the Gunners will be aiming to renew him at the earliest. But his wage demands are causing a delay and have the Gunners thinking that PSG could swoop in and sign him up. Follow Premier League Transfer Updates on InsideSport.IN

William Saliba’s new contract negotiations with Arsenal are proving difficult, and Paris Saint-Germain is keeping an eye on the situation. The French international’s current £40,000 per week contract only has a year left, and the Gunners are eager to sign him to a long-term agreement.
The team of Mikel Arteta is willing to pay the 22-year-old Saliba, £120,000 per week to serve as their defensive anchor for the foreseeable future. However, the demands put forth by the centre-back’s representation have stunned them, and they are now far from an agreement.
Arsenal worries that Saliba will accept any offer made by Qatari-backed PSG in order to join them at Parc des Princes. Saliba is an important component of Boss Arteta’s long-term plans, and Mikel has no intention of selling him this summer.
Arsenal does not want him to finish out his contract with the North London giants and become a free agent. In order to strike a compromise deal and put an end to the uncertainty around the crucial defender, Arsenal is currently working nonstop.
According to reports, Saliba receives one of the lowest salaries among the first-team players at the Emirates. To recognize his contribution to the squad and put him on par with players like Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, and Oleksandr Zinchenko, Arsenal admits they must give him a sizable raise.
It is a far cry from the kind of money that PSG, the French Champions, can offer him, especially if they can acquire him for a cut-price fee, considering he will be on a free if he leaves the Emirates the next season.
Arsenal and William Saliba
Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 for £27 million, however, he has only appeared for the club once after spending his first three years on loan back at his former team, then at Nice and Marseille.
Prior to missing the final 11 games of the season due to a back ailment and the team’s subsequent collapse in the title race, he was the cornerstone of Arteta’s defense the previous season. The club’s medical team has ruled out the need for surgery and hopes he will recover in time for the start of pre-season training in July.
After initially being hesitant to return after his loan stint at Marseille last year, he has eventually adjusted to life in London and has proven to be a tremendous favorite both in the dressing room and with the fans. Having recently tied down the duo of Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale, the Gunners are aiming to do the same with William Saliba too.
