GT pacer Mohit Sharma received a lot of limelight but not for good reasons as pacer failed to defend 13 runs in the last over the CSK vs GT final match of IPL 2023. To note, Mohit bowled four excellent deliveries and conceded just 3 runs. However, the senior pacer failed to execute his plans on the last two balls of the match as CSK batter Ravindra Jadeja smoked him for back to back boundaries to help his side clinch the title for the record fifth time. “I couldn’t sleep. Sochta raha kya alag karta joh match jeet jaate. What if I could have bowled this ball or that ball? It’s not a nice feeling now. Somewhere something is missing but I’m trying to move on,” Mohit Sharma told Indian Express.

“My mind was very clear about what I wanted to do. In the nets, I had practiced such situations and I have been in such scenarios before too. So I said let me bowl all balls yorkers and was backing my instinct,” Mohit said.

Meanwhile, there have been talks that Mohit is under the radar to get selected for the 2024 T20 WC in West Indies. The 35-year-old has been absent from India’s ODI and T20 roster since 2015 and 2018 respectively. But as India are going through a pace-bowling crisis due to a string of injuries, Mohit not very far away.

With 31 wickets in 26 ODIs and 6 wickets in 8 T20s, Mohit Sharma is well-experienced in international cricket. While the dip in form and ending up as a net bowler for GT last season was low, the former CSK pacer has rekindled hopes.
