Pakistan’s men’s football squad will compete in the SAFF Championship for the first time since 1993, having missed the previous two editions. Due to a shortage of money, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) was unable to send their men’s side to the 2015 tournament in India. The national team then missed the 2021 edition while suffering a FIFA sanction, which was lifted last June.
Notably, Pakistan has been drawn in Group A of the SAFF Championship 2023 with India, Kuwait, and Nepal. The South Asian tournament will include eight teams, divided into two groups. Group A includes host India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Kuwait, while Group B includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, Lebanon, and the Maldives.
