Chennai Super Kings completed a thumping victory over the defending champs Gujarat Titans to clinch their record fifth title at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on May 29 (Monday). After CSK’s triumph, the cricketing fraternity praised the Yellow Army for their winning effort. The former KKR skipper and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir also praised MS Dhoni and Co as he also went on to take an indirect dig at the Royal Challengers Bangalore who are yet to win a single edition of the Indian Premier League. Chasing a mammoth total of 215 runs, MS Dhoni and Co got a reduced target due to rain as they needed 171 runs to win in 15 overs. Openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad started extremely well as the match was finished by Sir Ravindra Jadeja with the bat.

Titans managed to break the partnership as Gaikwad and Conway departed in quick succession. However, some decent cameos from Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu helped Chennai to remain in the game. With 10 runs needing off last 2 balls, Jadeja smoked two back to back boundaries to help his side clinch the fifth IPL trophy.

Meanwhile, CSK skipper MS Dhoni give a response on his retirement question. “It is better you ask first and I answer later. So you are looking for the answer. To be honest, it is a better time to announce retirement. It is an easier thing to walk away from here but the harder part is to come back again,” said Dhoni.
