With no international or domestic matches line up, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam perform Hajj this year along with his mother. Apart from Babar, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Faheem Ashraf and Iftikhar Ahmed are also set to visit Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj. According to Geo News, Babar is set to leave Pakistan in the second week of June to visit Saudi. Apart from the current cricketers, veteran Inzamam-ul-Haq will also perform Hajj alongside his wife. As per Geo News, Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor, said that 179,210 Pakistani pilgrims would perform Hajj in 2023.
To note, Pakistan Cricket Board and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in tussle regarding the upcoming Asia Cup in September this year.
- The 2023 edition of the continental tournament will be played in the ODI format.
- It is scheduled to take place in August-September.
- The BCCI and PCB have been at loggerheads regarding the hosting of the Asia Cup.
- Although the PCB has the hosting rights, the BCCI made it crystal clear that the Indian team will not be in a position to travel to Pakistan.
- The final decision is slated to be made in the ACC meeting to be held later.
