Erik Ten Hag: Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has recently reached the 30-goal mark in all competitions. With this he became the first Man United player to hit the mark after Robin van Persie. Boss Erik Ten Hag thinks he can reach the 40-goal mark next season and the coach will push him to do better. The coach has also said that they cannot depend entirely upon one player, so it can be guessed that Man United will be looking to boost their attack. Marcus Rashford has been Manchester United’s top scorer this season. He brought his goal tally to 30 in all competitions as he scored in their 4-1 win against Chelsea. No other player has achieved this feat in a decade since Robin van Persie did it a decade ago. However, the coach did not give Rashford the time to dwell on this huge achievement. Erik Ten Hag showed immense faith in the 25-year-old and said that he can still improve and score 40 goals next season.

Coach Ten Hag said, “There’s a lot of room for improvement in his game. I am convinced he can score even more… He can improve. I am happy from what he did last season to now that he brings himself back. We supported him where we could, with the way we play but also in his mental mindset. We are happy with that, but we must push him more. I think he’s capable of scoring 40 goals in a season. So for him that’s the next step.”

Rashford attained the 30-goal mark from 55 appearances this season. The forward also suffered injuries a few times which saw him miss around 7 games throughout the season. However, he still prevailed and has also given 9 assists which is third in the team this season only after Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen. He can still increase his goal and assist tally as Man United’s biggest fight of the season remains to be fought against Man City next week in the FA Cup final.

Even though Rashford has come up immensely for Man United, the Red Devils have still been the lowest scorers in the top 6. They only managed to score 56 times in 37 games. Hence, they will need to boost their attack and the coach has agreed that relying on only one person to score and win them a match is not the way. He said, “Across the squad we need more scoring abilities. You can’t be dependent on one. But it can also come from this squad.”

Hence, he has faith in the current squad, but the club is still looking for regular scorers, like Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and even the Brighton youngster Evan Ferguson. They will need all the firepower in the final third as they have now qualified for next year’s Champions League. However, they still have not been able to present offers to any player as the possible arrival of new owners at the club is getting delayed again and again. This is affecting their transfer plans as a result.
