IPL 2023: Shubman Gill stunned the cricket community as he took Gujarat Titans to their second Indian Premier League Final in as many years by smashing his third century of the IP 2023 season. Gujarat reached 233-3 thanks to Gill’s 60-ball 129, a total they successfully defended by dismissing five-time champion Mumbai for 171 in 18.2 overs in the final playoff, which got underway late owing to rain in Ahmedabad. After the game, Gill was spotted chatting in the dugout with MI’s mentor, the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Check out the picture below. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN

The 23-year-old destroyed the opposing attack at the biggest cricket stadium in the world by smashing 10 sixes and putting on a second-wicket partnership of 138 with Sai Sudharsan, who scored 43. When Tim David dropped Gill off England fast bowler Chris Jordan on 30, the in-form Indian batter made the most of his reprieve. The most runs scored by a player this season, he now has 851 after his hit. Additionally, he regained the Orange Cap from Faf du Plessis, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore.

After the game against MI, Gill received the Player of the Match award for his record-breaking performance as GT easily advanced to a second straight final with a 62-run victory in Ahmedabad. “For me, it is playing ball to ball, over to over. The over where I hit three sixes gave me the momentum to go big. That’s when I realised it could be my day. It was a good wicket to bat on as well,” he said in the post-match presentation.

He had a first T20I century in January, a Test hundred in the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia in February, and an ODI record double ton in between when he entered the IPL this year. The 23-year-old then maintained his exceptional form throughout the IPL 2023 season, finally scoring his first century at the Narendra Modi Stadium, adding another to his total during a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and then notching his third in just four innings in Qualifier 2.
