Chasing a total of 187, Rajasthan Royals needed 18 runs off the last two overs. Sam Curran ran in to bowl the penultimate over of the innings. Shimton Hetmyer hammered the England pacer by hitting two boundaries through the off-side as 10 runs were scored off four balls in the over.
The West Indian batter tried to find another boundary in the next ball. He hit hard towards the extra-cover region. But this time he hit it close to Shikhar Dhawan. As the ball was dipping in front of him, Dhawan dived forward perfectly on time and completed a stunning catch.
Dhawan brought out his typical celebration immediately. The on-field umpire however took it upstairs and replays confirmed a clean catch. Hetmyer was dismissed after scoring 46 off 28 balls.
However with eight runs needed off the final over, Shikhar Dhawan gave the ball to leg-spinner Rahul Chahar. Dhruv Jurel finished the match with two balls to spare by hitting a big six.
With the win, Rajasthan Royals have moved up to the fifth spot on the points table and still have a chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Punjab Kings though ended the league stage with 6 wins from 14 matches and are knocked out. They are at the eight spot on the table.
