Billy Graham death: A long history of health issues
Graham, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 79, is being remembered by the wrestling world. Graham has “severe health issues,” including “a major ears infection and skull that may take six months of intravenous IVs, congestive heart failure, diabetes, and hearing loss due to the infection,” according to a GoFundMe account.
Billy’s recent health issues have taken a toll on his physique. He had hearing loss, diabetes, congestive heart failure, and a severe ear and skull infection. Graham’s kidney function was declining as well. He allegedly lost 45 pounds during this time, according to his family.
Bill’s wife, Valerie, said he had just spent three weeks in the intensive care unit. Although she initially resisted the doctors’ suggestion to turn off Billy’s life support on Monday night, she eventually caved in.
Billy Graham’s Wrestling Career
Graham developed a unique style, including eccentric earrings, skintight T-shirts, and long, multicolored tie-dyed tights to stick out even more. He also dyed his hair and beard in different colors. Future stars like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Jesse Ventura, Scott Steiner, and others were made possible by the WWE Hall of Famer’s distinctive fashion sense, sculpted physique, and supremacy in the ring.
Graham’s most notable WWE accomplishment occurred on April 30, 1977, when he knocked Bruno Sammartino off his throne as WWE Champion. Superstar held the championship for almost a year, successfully defending it against legends like Dusty Rhodes, Gorilla Monsoon, and “High Chief” Peter Maivia, before being deposed by Bob Backlund in an unpopular way.
Graham left the ring in 1987 at 44 and worked as a manager before becoming a color analyst. In 2004, Triple H presented “superstar” Billy Graham with his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Two years later, the WWE documentary “20 Years Too Soon: The ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham Story” highlighted Graham’s motivational tale and impact on the sports entertainment industry.
