Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen shared a video on Twitter refuting MS Dhoni’s assertion that the former England batsman was his first and only Test wicket. During an IPL 2017 game, the two had a lighthearted conversation in which Pietersen, through microphone-embedded Manoj Tiwary, told the then-Rising Pune Supergiant star that he was a better golfer than him. In his response, Dhoni poked fun at Pietersen and said, “You are still my first Test wicket.” Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN

Years later, Pietersen has come out to say that this is not entirely true. During India’s 2011 visit, which is more renowned for Alastair Cook’s 294 and Stuart Broad’s maiden Test hat trick, Dhoni did bowl to Pietersen. Billy Bowden even declared the batter to have been caught behind.

The ruling was overturned when Pietersen, 42, immediately reviewed it, as he has now demonstrated. Following the revelation that Dhoni had now found the edge and that the noise Bowden had heard was really a bat striking a pad, the judgement was reversed.

As England easily won the game and the series, Pietersen went on to make a double hundred, and Dhoni ended his career without taking a Test wicket.

The video was shared by the former England batter with the remark, “The evidence s clear! I was not Dhoni’s first wicket. Nice ball though MS!” In a career spanning more than 500 games, he did manage to claim one international wicket, dismissing West Indies batter Travis Dowlin in the 2009 Champions Trophy.
