Shanaka, who captains Sri Lanka in white-ball cricket, is an explosive middle-order batter and is more than handy with the ball; if that is not enough, he is also a gun fielder. Shanaka left a mark on the Indian audience in the last T20I series against India. Shanaka amassed 124 runs in three innings at an incredible strike rate of 187 and averaged 62 with the bat.
Shanaka does not have incredible T20I stats but has an exceptional record against India. In the 22 T20Is he has played against India, the all-rounder has an average of 30 and strikes the ball at 141. His record against India is in contrast to his overall T20I record, as he averages 20 with the bat and strikes the ball at just 121.
Shanaka joins Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana as the third Sri Lankan player to play in this Indian Premier League 2023 season. While the Sri Lankan is set to play his first game for GT, his position for the upcoming matches is uncertain. The Titans have been the best team this season, and Hardik Pandya and the management would not want to meddle with the tried and tested team formation that has given them so much success this season.
