Ekana Cricket Stadium Pitch Report
Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow was officially inaugurated in 2017 and has served as the home ground for the Lucknow Super Giants starting this IPL 2023 season.
The pitch at Ekana Cricket Stadium tends to be slow and generally favours spinners. However, fast bowlers are also never out of the equation; by using variations like slower ones and cutters, pacers can get some purchase of the wicket and restrict the batters.
This will be the seventh and last match of the IPL 2023 season to be played here. This season, the team batting second has won twice, whereas the team batting first has won on three occasions, with the last match ending in a no result.
Out of the last three matches played, two have been won by the side batting first, with sides defending low totals of 135 and 126. While the third was washed out.
The average first-inning score at this stadium has been 147 runs so far this season. However, in their first home game, the Lucknow Super Giants amassed a massive 193 runs while batting first, which also happens to be the highest IPL total at this venue. Conversely, the lowest total scored here is 108 runs, which was scored by the home side LSG against RCB as they failed to chase a modest total of 127.
Considering the stadium’s history and characteristics, the team that wins the toss is likely to opt to bat first. A score above 125 has been a defendable total here for the past few games; however, the side batting first would like to make a score above 150 to ensure a victory.
