EFL Championship is the second tier of English football. The two clubs who finish in the two top-two in the Championship table earn direct promotion to the Premier League. For the final spot, the next four sides participate in a playoff knockout round.
Let’s take a look at who made it into the Premier League 2023/24:
Last year, Burnley, Watford, and Norwich City faced relegation from Premier League. Burnley managed to earn their promotion for next season. Norwich City were seven points behind a playoff spot, and Watford were one point better in the mid-table.
Apart from Burnley, Sheffield United have also made it into the Premier League next season. The Blades finished second in the table. Now, the third spot will be crucial which will be decided through the playoff round.
Burnely
Burnley have been a top side in Championship and they secured their promotion on April 07 with a title on April 25. They finished the season with 101 points. They beat Middlesbrough 2-1 to announce their promotion to England’s top flight. The credit goes to former Man City defender and the current manager Vincent Kompany who guided the Clarets to win the second tier of English football.

Kompany won just one game out of first five this season but later, he lost just three games throughout the season. Their attack has been superior with 87 goals. They conceded only 35 goals to show their defense power.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United become the second team to secure a place in the Premier League 2022/23. The Blades finished second in the Championship table. They were relegated from the Premier League two seasons back and finished bottom of the table. With the 2-0 win over the Baggies assured them their ticket to the English top-flight on April 26.
The Blades led by former Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom. Ollie McBurnie and Sander Berge played big roles in their promotion campaign. Two Manchester City loanees, James McAtee and Tommy Doyle also played a major role in midfield.

Two teams are finalized for the next season of the Premier League. The third team will be sent through the playoff round which will be played among four teams who finished in top-6 of the Championship.
Luton Town and Middlesbrough secured the playoff spot at the start. On the final day of the Championship, eight teams were in the race to get two remaining spots in playoffs. Later, Coventry City and Sunderland secured the last two places. Millwall had a solid chance to go through but they spiled their chance by conceding a two-goal lead to Blackburn.

Luton Town are favourites to take the third spot in Premier League promotion. They finished third in the table, just five points behind automatic promotion. They will face 6th placed Sunderland in the first semifinal, and fourth-place Middlesbrough will lock horns against fifth-place Coventry City. The playoff semifinals will be played in two legs. The final will be played on May 27 at Wembley Stadium.
If we talk about the current season of the Premier League, Southampton has been officially relegated after 11 years. Leicester City, Leeds United, and Everton are fighting for survival.
