WWE Night of Champions 2023 Preview

WWE has stated that it would revive Night of Champions rather than anoint a new King and Queen of the Ring. A premium live event idea existed before the phrase “premium live event” was even created. This month, when WWE returns to Saudi Arabia, it appears that choice may significantly impact the crowning of a new World Heavyweight Champion.

The Night of Champions name we were used to, WWE, had included the gimmick that every title would be on the line. Once the card below is complete, we’ll know whether WWE intends to carry on with that custom.

Night of Champions 2023 Schedule

On Saturday, May 27, 2023, WWE Night of Champions is expected to occur. The main event is scheduled to begin at 4 pm, with the action starting in the US at 1:00 PM. The designated venue for this delectable event is the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia, which seats about 35,000 people. WWE Night of Champions 2023 will begin on May 27 at around 10:30 PM in India.

WWE Night of Champions 2023 match card

The match card for WWE Night Of Champions 2023 has yet to take shape entirely, but the event is close. Currently confirmed for the event are a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar, a fight between Seth Rollins and AJ Styles to crown the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and a contest between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship.

Night of Champions 2023: Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar

When Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes engage in a WWE Backlash rematch, a reckoning will occur at WWE Night of Champions.

Insidesport

In a match at WWE Backlash, Rhodes miraculously overcame Lesnar’s rage with a cunning pin combo. But when he returned to the red brand, he focused on the World Heavyweight Championship match instead of The Beast. Before challenging for a rematch, Lesnar unexpectedly reappeared and brutally crushed his opponent through the announcing table. Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar would be a treat for the WWE Universe at Night of Champions 2023 without any title on the line.

Night of Champions 2023: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa (WWE Tag Team Title)

At WWE Night of Champions, the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens will take on Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa to reclaim the title for The Bloodline.

Insidesport

Roman Reigns made his first appearance on SmackDown since The Showcase of the Immortals on May 12 and wasted little time expressing his displeasure with The Usos for failing to win the belt back. He then accused Special Counsel Paul Heyman of saying that Reigns would team up with Sikoa to fight Owens and Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at WWE Night of Champions, much to Jimmy & Jey’s humiliation.

WWE Night of Champions 2023: Gunther vs Mustafa Ali (Intercontinental Championship)

Since being selected by Raw in the Draft 2023, Gunther has been searching for a deserving opponent. Gunther will get his wish at WWE Night of Champions when he faces Mustafa Ali for the first time.

Insidesport

Ali earned the chance to hold this title after triumphing in an exciting Battle Royal, albeit with assistance from The Ring General. Gunther used his cunning strategies while Matt Riddle looked strong, ordering Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser to remove The Original Bro from the contest.

In recent weeks, Ali has made an effort to have a good view of life, and there isn’t much more upbeat than a showdown with Gunther for the Intercontinental Title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

WWE Night of Champions 2023: Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus

Becky Lynch will square off against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at WWE Night of Champions in a highly anticipated dream match.

Insidesport

Trish Stratus unexpectedly appeared in February to assist fellow WWE Hall of Famer Lita and Lynch in leveling the playing field with Damage CTRL and paving the way for them to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in a move that thrilled the WWE Universe.

At WrestleMania, the group defeated Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY by working together. In light of Lita’s mystery backstage attack, Trish Stratus teamed up with The Man to support The Man in her championship defense against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Trish Stratus, however, abruptly betrayed Lynch when she executed a surprise attack and left her down and out in the ring only moments after she was pinned to lose the title.

Following the attack, Big Time Becks vanished for weeks, and Trish Stratus used every chance to make fun of her until May 8, when Becky treated the WWE Hall of Famer to the Bexploder during a surprise appearance on Raw. The following week, at WWE Night of Champions, a motivated Lynch threw down the gauntlet to her lauded foe. That match was made official after a verbal brawl on the last Red brand episode before the PLE.

Night of Champions 2023: Bianca Belair vs Asuka (WWE Women’s Raw Championship)

The extraordinary reign of Bianca Belair as Raw Women’s Champion appears to have no end in sight. Belair has held the title of women’s champion for the most significant period in modern history after defeating Asuka at WrestleMania and then defeating IYO SKY in an incredible triumph at WWE Backlash.

The EST organized a Championship Celebration in her native Knoxville to mark the occasion. Unfortunately for Belair, Asuka stopped the celebrations by dousing The EST in a poisonous mist.

Asuka’s assault solidified their WrestleMania rematch for WWE Night of Champions. The two have become increasingly cruel individuals after being drafted to SmackDown, with Belair looking to exact revenge following Asuka’s shocking attack. They had previously worked together and even triumphed in the inaugural WWE Women’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series WarGames.

Who will prevail when Belair defends her Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Night of Champions?

Night of Champions 2023: Rhea Ripley vs Natalya (WWE Women’s SmackDown Championship)

Rhea Ripley, the SmackDown Women’s Champion, and Natalya will battle at WWE Night of Champions.

Insidesport

When Ripley joined the cast of The Judgement Day, she was already a determined competitor. Since then, though, she has advanced to a completely new level, personally and in concert with the dark faction, becoming the bane of the women’s changing room. She dominated the competition to win the Royal Rumble, won the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania with a tough victory over Charlotte Flair, and is now seen as an unstoppable force of nature.

But she angered The Queen of Harts when she made a cruel statement by striking Dana Brooke after she had already defeated her. Natalya stood toe-to-toe with the powerful titleholder, demonstrating that she was not scared by her until a beaming Ripley decided to go.

The battle between The Queen of Harts and The Eradicator is a must-see matchup because Natalya, a two-time women’s champion and WWE women’s tag team champion, was created in the infamous family dungeon in Calgary.

WWE Night of Champions 2023: Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles (WWE World Heavyweight Title)

Countless candidates could have made history by being crowned champion when Triple H first unveiled the new World Heavyweight Title. Seth “Freakin” Rollins and AJ Styles, two Superstars with a fantastic title background, are the only contenders left after a challenging tournament.

Insidesport

At WrestleMania 31, Rollins successfully cashed his Money in the Bank Contract during the match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to win his first global championship. The Architect has triumphed in two Universal Championships and two WWE Titles altogether.

AJ Styles has won the WWE Championship twice, and his second reign was one of the longest in recent memory. He is a two-time world champion.

A memorable Universal Title match between Rollins and Styles at WWE Money in the Bank 2019 resulted in Rollins retaining the title that evening. Rollins and Styles have each had their fair share of history. More recently, The Visionary defeated Styles once more in June of last year in a match between the two former world champions.

Who will emerge from WWE Night of Champions as the first World Heavyweight Champion now that the stage is set for a historic contest?
