Liverpool beat Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League on Monday, with two goals from Curtis Jones and a superb set-piece from Trent Alexander-Arnold, bolstering their Champions League prospects and intensifying the Foxes’ relegation woes.

Liverpool is fifth in the rankings with 65 points after 36 games, one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have a game in hand. Leicester are 19th with 30 points, two behind Everton in 17th with two games remaining.

After a sluggish start, Jones broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute with a magnificent first-time strike from Mohamed Salah’s cross after Leicester’s high defensive line was caught off guard by Liverpool goalie Alisson’s long throw over the top. Three minutes later, the 22-year-old midfielder scored again, and this time it was Salah who set him up, with Jones taking a touch on the spin before firing home.

The home supporters tried everything to get their team back into the game, but Alexander-Arnold struck a magnificent third in the 71st minute after a free kick was pushed into his path by Salah. His powerful finish into the top corner snuffed away any possibility of a Leicester comeback.
