Streak is widely considered to be Zimbabwe’s greatest bowler and one of their greatest cricketers ever to play the game. He played 65 Tests and 189 one-day internationals for Zimbabwe from 1993 to 2005.

Zimbabwe’s former minister of education, sport, arts, and culture and Streak’s close family friend, David Coltart, took to Twitter to announce the shocking news of the Zimbabwean all-rounder’s illness on Saturday morning.

Zimbabwean sports journalist Mike Madoda also took to Twitter and claimed that ‘only a miracle will save him now’. His condition is so critical that his family is flying from the United Kingdom to South Africa. Madoda also urged fans to pray for the great.

Currently, further details haven’t emerged yet about what caused his illness, but as per sources, the former Zimbabwe captain and coach has been battling cancer.

Heath Streak Health Update: ICC Suspension in 2021

Streak is currently under suspension from any cricketing activities after he was handed an eight-year ban for being found guilty of breaching the International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption code two years ago, in 2021.

Following his ban, Streak decided to move to his family farm in the Turk Mine area, 60 kilometres north of Bulawayo.
