According to multiple media sources, Sachin Tendulkar’s personal assistant discovered an oil company commercial on Facebook that exploited Tendulkar’s photo for marketing, saying that the product was approved by the experienced player, and similar adverts were also discovered on Instagram. The Mumbai Police Cyber Cell has filed a case in this subject under numerous parts of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including cheating and forgery, as well as pertinent portions of the IT Act.
For those unfamiliar, this is not the first time someone has exploited Sachin Tendulkar’s image or voice to promote a product, duping people online. Tendulkar’s team issued a statement earlier in 2020, claiming that they will take legal action against firms and people who use his name and photo for commercial purposes without his authorization. Tendulkar had filed a lawsuit against a casino in Goa at the time for using a modified portrait of him in promotional material.
