After arriving in Rome for the first time in his career on Thursday, Alcaraz soon took to the practice courts. He entered the wrong gate initially. Soon realising his mistake, he proceeded towards the correct gate.

However on the way, he was approached by waiting fans to sign autographs. The Spaniard didn’t take time to oblige to the request and proceeded towards the courts. Irked by his act one woman from the crowd called him “pezzo di merda” in Italian. It roughly translates to “piece of shit”.

The 20-year old turned back only to laugh it off and continued to walk towards the designated practice court. This incident was recorded by the Tennis TV and was posted on its official Twitter handle.

Alcaraz is all set to return reclaim the World No.1 spot in the ATP Rankings soon after the Italian Open. He is currently just five points behind Novk Djokovic and will overtake the Serbian after the ongoing tournament in Rome.

Djokovic is defending his title in the tournament and will not gain any points even if he wins the title. However with Alcaraz playing in Rome for the first time and he is set to go past Djokovic’s tally of points if he wins his first match in the tournament.

Alcaraz will begin his campaign in the second round on Saturday, 13th May. He will be facing compatriot Albert Ramos Vinolas in his first match in the tournament.
