Real Madrid vs Manchester City: New images show WHY CARLO ANCELOTTI was furious after Man City’s Equalizer, Check OUTWhy Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid were so incensed at Kevin De Bruyne’s equalizer at the Bernabeu has been exposed in a shocking new photo. The first leg of the Champions League semi-final between Los Blancos and Manchester City ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to a goal by Vinicius Jr.
In the 36th minute, the Brazilian delivered an amazing shot from outside the box. However, a magnificent effort from De Bruyne gave City a 1-1 draw that they will take back to the Etihad for the second leg the following week. For a reason that most English spectators were unaware of, the Real Madrid players and bench vehemently contested that goal.
Ancelotti, their normally calm manager, was so enraged that the referee even gave him a yellow card for his complaints. Now it is clear why he was so incensed by the goal—just seconds earlier, the ball appeared to have crossed the line for a throw-in. Right in front of Madrid’s dugout, the ball appeared to have left play prior to the goal.

However, neither the referee nor the assistant referee saw the incident, so Bernardo Silva was able to continue playing. A VAR check, however, was not even possible since Eduardo Camavinga dropped the ball shortly after it was recovered. The possible throw-in decision could not be challenged because it was only then that City’s offensive phase, which resulted in the equalizer, was deemed to have started.
Carlo Ancelotti’s words after the game
Talking about the incident near the touchline and his frustration, the Italian said, ‘The ball was off the pitch. That’s it. Technology said it. I don’t understand why VAR didn’t check it. The referee didn’t pay attention to many things tonight.’

He continued, ‘Good, good. It was a good game and we had some positive feelings about it. In the first 30 minutes we played well and the players worked well in the transitions. The team played well, I am satisfied. We are happy and have strong motivation for the next one.’
When asked about his team’s defense and what he thought about tonight’s game, the Italian quipped, ‘You need to keep calm, stay in your defensive position and not go crazy to press. We stayed with a low block and with our first chance, we scored the opening goal. We deserved to win… but it’s a good result for us and for City.’
