Ben Stokes looked in good touch as the Chennai Super Kings prepared for the game against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. Batting in the nets, Stokes looked at his best, sending some big hits away from his blade. The England test captain looked in no discomfort, stepping down on occasion to clear the fence.

Stokes is a maverick cricketer and an asset to any side he plays with his all-round game. However, where the 31-year-old fits in CSK’s scheme of things remains to be seen. MS Dhoni has found his overseas core with Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana.
Stokes himself struggled in the IPL this season, scoring 15 runs in the 2 games he featured this season. In the only over he bowled, he conceded 18 runs. CSK will need Stokes to fire should he return to the side, given their investment in him. His start for Chennai has been beset by injury, but the 31-year-old will be keen to put down his mark at Chepauk before the season ends.
