Russell came to the crease after the fall of Venkatesh Iyer with KKR on 115/3. However, the home side lost their skipper Nitish Rana at 124 with a big task ahead of Russell and Rinku. However, the duo did not disappoint as they added 54 runs in just 27 balls. The West Indian veteran played a brilliant knock of 42 runs in just 23 balls which included 3 fours and an equal number of maximums. His partner also played a decent cameo of 21 runs in just 10 balls which included 2 fours and one huge six.
“I didn’t think about the last ball. Even when I hit those five sixes, I hadn’t thought much. I was playing on the merit of the ball. I had the belief in me that I could finish the game. I have got used to it, sometimes I bat at 5, sometimes at 6, 7, I practice that way. There is no particular way I like to celebrate,” Rinku Singh said after the match.
