Lionel Messi was suspended by PSG

Lionel Messi received a suspension from PSG earlier this week because he traveled to Saudi Arabia for a non-approved commercial event, despite having training scheduled with the team on Monday.

Initially, it seemed like this incident would mark the end of Messi’s time with the French club. However, The Times has reported that PSG’s Qatari owners are keen on retaining the services of the 35-year-old Argentine.

I wanted to make this video after everything that is happening,” said Messi on his Instagram account. “First of all, I apologise to my team-mates, to the club. Honestly, I thought we were going to have a day off after the game, as had been happening in previous weeks.

I had this trip to Arabia organised and I couldn’t cancel it. I had already cancelled it before. I repeat again and apologise for what I did. Here I am, waiting for what the club decides.

Lionel Messi’s PSG Contract

It was previously reported that PSG and Lionel Messi had reached a verbal agreement to extend his contract after the World Cup.

However, PSG’s poor performance in the second half of the season, combined with discontent from the club’s fans, has led to a shift in mood at Parc des Princes.

According to reports, Lionel Messi desires to play for a club that competes at the Champions League level and is aware that PSG has made the best financial offer.

Will PSG offer Messi a new contract?

However, the French club has no plans to discuss a possible contract extension with Messi until after their upcoming match with Troyes on Sunday. The game is crucial for PSG as they aim to extend their lead over second-placed Lens to six points in Ligue 1.

Barcelona is still interested in re-signing Messi, but financial constraints make it challenging to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami of the MLS has expressed their interest in signing Messi, and the Saudi Pro League also wants to bring him to the Middle East for a final showdown with Cristiano Ronaldo.
