Prithvi Shaw: IPL 2023 – Phillip Salt’s scintillating half-century against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has currently shut the door on Prithvi Shaw, as he is set to warm the bench for Delhi Capitals (DC) clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Salt replaced Shaw in the playing XI against SRH, and the wicketkeeper has thus far grabbed his chances with both hands, scoring two fifties in five games. With DC on a roll after winning four games, head coach Ricky Ponting is in no mood to tinker with the winning combination. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.
For the uninitiated, Shaw failed to provide blistering starts upfronts for DC despite Ponting backing him to the hilt. 12, 7, 0, 15, 0, & 13 is what the young opener managed before the axe fell on him. The right-hand batter’s off-field controversy hogged major limelight than on field when Sapna Gill filed a fresh case accusing Shaw of molestation. With Salt now showing his good form with the bat, it seems this is the end of the season of Shaw as far as IPL 2023 is concerned.
CSK vs DC: Salt to continue to partner David Warner, Prithvi Shaw to be ignored
Salt’s 45-ball 87 was the cornerstone of DC’s crushing seven victory over RCB. The wicketkeeper attacked from word and did not take the foot of the paddle. The England batter’s heroics enabled a fourth win for DC. The David Warner-led are still in the hunt to qualify for the playoffs. The capitals need to win their remaining four games, and hope a few results go in their favor. The Capitals’ next take on CSK on Wednesday (May 10). CSK are currently sitting second on the points table with 13 points.
Speaking about Shaw, the right-hand batter is currently sweating out in gym and training session to get back amongst the runs. The DC opener shared a new video on Instagram with a fitting caption, “You never lose. You either win or learn.”
