It has almost been confirmed that Lionel Messi will not be staying in France after the end of the season. He will become a free agent and will move to a club of his choice. There have been rumours surrounding his transfer, but nothing is confirmed yet. There is a chance he could move to the Saudi club Al-Hilal who are reportedly offering him £400 million. He could move back to Barcelona where he spent most of his career since childhood. He could also move to the MLS club Inter Miami which is co-owned by England legend David Beckham.

Lionel Messi has been an ambassador for Saudi tourism for a long time. For that purpose, he had planned a trip to Saudi. However, he cancelled it twice to keep in line with PSG’s schedule. After PSG’s defeat against Lorient, Leo Messi assumed there would be an off day. He planned his trip on that off day and informed the club. However, PSG decided on holding a training session on that day. By the Messi was informed of the changed schedule, he was already on air. This resulted in PSG suspending him for two weeks for his unauthorized trip.

Leo Messi apologised for his part in the matter by posting a video online. He apologised to PSG and their fans and agreed to whatever punishment comes his way. However, this suspension not only drives Messi further from PSG, but his trip to Saudi also fuels the rumour of his move to Al-Hilal who offered him a huge amount. Al-Hilal have the King Cup of Champions final match. Ahead of it, coach Ramon Diaz was asked about the rumours and he said, “Now we are focused on the game; we have a final. And after the final, we’ll see what happens.”

However, the most possible and likeable move for Messi still remains to be to Barcelona. The player has recently visited his old home in Barcelona as well. Many videos emerged all over the internet where Messi could be seen outside his Barcelona home with his family or him strolling the streets outside on a bike. He even went to have dinner with his old teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. However, to acquire Messi, Barcelona need to get La Liga’s approval. They presented La Liga with viability plans, but La Liga are yet to approve them.

The possibility of Lionel Messi moving to MLS is not very low either. MLS side Inter Miami which is co-owned by David Beckham have shown major interest in signing Leo Messi. On that note, it is important to mention that near the end of April, David Beckham was staying in Paris. Beckham decided to pop into the club and meet the players. He once played for PSG and it could have been a mere visit to his old club, but it sparked rumours of Messi moving to MLS. Beckham later posted pictures with Leo Messi and other players on his social media account.
