Formula 1: Mercedes driver and Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly a force to reckon with on track. The Briton apart from being statistically the greatest ever, is also one of the most consistent performers when he takes the wheel. However, fans are not getting a lot of vintage Hamilton these days. This is primarily because of the technical inferiority of the Mercedes W-14 this season so far. Follow Formula 1 Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

The relentless and strong-headed British duo hasn’t been able to extract race-winner capability from the Silver Arrows, for the simple reason that it doesn’t seem to exist. Amidst these sub-par performances, there have been major speculations around the future of the seven-time world champion. More recently, his former teammate Jenson Button came forward with his opinion on the issue.

Lewis Hamilton’s contract with Mercedes is coming to an end at the end of this season. Team boss Toto Wolff recently said that he is committed on putting pen to paper with the 38-year-old driver. However, rumors have been sweeping amongst the fans about his uncertain future in the sport.

Lewis Hamilton still hungry for a championship win: Jenson Button

Button is 2009 F1 world champion and simultaneous occupant of McLaren’s seat between 2010-12 alongside Hamilton. He has worked up close with fellow Briton and knows the sport inside-out. In a recent interview published by Sky F1, Button claimed that Hamilton will not walk away from F1 this year, thus negating all the speculations. Lewis Hamilton is ties with Michael Schumacher on the most number of championship wins. This arguably one of the very few F1 records he has to share.

However, his dream of gaining this ultimate 8th title win has been derailed by the dominance of Red Bull over the last two years. Button recently opined that Hamilton is still hungry for a championship win.

“He knows the strength of the team, he knows how quick he is still and they’re going to work together to get back to fighting with Red Bull. And I think they will,” said Jenson Button as reported by Sky F1.

“It probably won’t be this year. But in 2024, I think we see Lewis on the grid. He’s still hungry to win another world championship,” added the Briton.

Now, after the completion of four rounds in the championship, the paddock is moving to the USA for the 2nd edition of Miami GP this weekend. Tell us what your predictions are for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes this upcoming weekend. Comment below.
