Kohli Gambhir Fight: If you thought Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir would be held responsible for an ugly fallout post-match, you wold be wrong. Both ex-Delhi and India teammates will get away from the code and conduct breach. The Royal Challengers Bangalore superstar and Lucknow Super Giants mentor were fined 100% of the match fees. Who pays the fine?

Even though IPL’s Disciplinary Committee holds players responsible, BCCI doesn’t collect the fines from players. Instead, the board sends invoices to franchises after the end of the tournament. It is then up to the franchises whether they would deduct the fines from players’ salaries or they would pay. In Kohli’s case, RCB would pay the fine.

“Players put their bodies on the line for the team and we respect that and as a culture we don’t cut the fine from their salaries,” Cricbuzz quoted an RCB source as saying.

How much would Virat Kohli pay?

However, there are a lot of rumours and speculations regarding the amount which Kohli and Gambhir or RCB & LSG would pay. The idea is that since Kohli gets Rs 15 Crore from playing in IPL, a 100% fine of the match fee would mean 1.07 Cr for Kohli considering RCB play 14 games. The amount will be less if RCB qualify for playoffs and Kohli plays in all of them. If RCB play the final, the fine will be Rs 88.2 lakh.

How much would Gautam Gambhir pay?

There is no clarity on how much Gautam Gambhir would pay. The reason is unlike for players, franchises do not need to disclose the salaries of support staff. As per reports, the remuneration for Gambhir is between owner Sanjeev Goenka and the former India opener. Hence, rumours of Rs 25 lakh fine is pure speculation. But in any case, LSG will pay his fine and not Gambhir.

What said what during the match?

While Virat Kohli and Kyle Mayers had an on-field argument, Gambhir got involved after the match while he tried to separate them. As per PTI who cited eyewitnesses, this is how the conversation went.

Gautam Gambhir: Kya bol raha hain bol’ (What were you saying?)

Virat Kohli:Maine aapko kuch bola hi naahin, aap kyon ghus rahein ho’ (Why are you coming in between when I haven’t told you anything).

Gautam Gambhir: ‘Tuney agar mere player ko bola hai, matlab tune meri family ko gaali diya hai. (You abused my player and that’s like abusing my family)

Virat Kohli: ‘Toh aap apne family ko sambhal ke rakhiye’ (Then you keep your family in check).

Gautam Gambhir: ‘Toh ab tu mujhe sikhayega…’ (So now I have to learn from you?)

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir has fired back at former DDCA president and journalist Rajat Sharma. The India TV host called Gambhir a jealous man. As per him, Gambhir has become arrogant after becoming a Member of Parliament.
