Klopp’s actions came under scrutiny following Liverpool’s 4-3 victory against Tottenham on Sunday, when he rushed towards fourth official John Brooks to celebrate a late winner, injuring himself in the process, before alleging that Tierney had made inappropriate comments when cautioned.

PGMOL reviewed the audio

Following the incident, the PGMOL reviewed the audio recordings from the officials’ microphones and rejected Klopp’s allegations against Paul Tierney, stating that the referee conducted himself professionally throughout the match.

The PGMOL is now preparing to submit the audio evidence to the FA, who are investigating Klopp’s behavior, including his exuberant celebrations and comments after the match. The FA is awaiting the referee’s report and has not announced any formal charges.

According to an insider, the audio recording is a decisive piece of evidence that vindicates Paul Tierney. It is anticipated that the recording will be made public after any disciplinary proceedings.

The FA typically publishes written reasons detailing the outcome of such cases. The recording’s release is likely to provide greater clarity and transparency surrounding the incident.

Not Jurgen Klopp’s first offense

Jurgen Klopp, aged 55, has become a repeat offender, disregarding previous warnings from the FA regarding his conduct. Earlier this season, he was suspended for one game and fined £30,000 for verbally abusing assistant referee Gary Beswick during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in October.

In addition, Klopp was fined £45,000 in February 2019 for accusing referee Kevin Friend of bias after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with West Ham, where Friend allowed Sadio Mane’s controversial opener to stand.

Insidesport

Despite Tierney’s decision not to send off Diogo Jota during Sunday’s match, Klopp still feels that the referee was biased against Liverpool, citing previous incidents. In December 2021, Tierney had decided not to send off Harry Kane in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham but later red-carded Liverpool’s Andy Robertson for same offence.
