Kohli Gambhir FIGHT: Virat Kohli took a dig at Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir and pacer Naveen-ul-haq after a heated altercation with them following the RCB vs. LSG Indian Premier League 2023 match on Monday. Royal Challengers Bangalore shared a video of the celebration in the locker room, and one of the moments highlighted Kohli’s comments. In the video, Virat Kohli can be heard saying, “That’s a sweet win boys, Let’s go!” while appearing to mock Gambhir and LSG. “If you can give it, you gotta take it. Following the game, Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli appeared to argue while exchanging handshakes. Gambhir then yanked opening batter Kyle Mayers away from a conversation with Kohli. Soon after, Gambhir was seen advancing aggressively towards Kohli while being restrained by his teammates, including injured skipper KL Rahul.
Kohli appeared to be attempting to calm Gambhir down after the two got in each other’s faces by placing his hand on Gambhir’s shoulder, but the conversation quickly grew tense and veteran spinner Amit Mishra intervened to keep the two apart. Both Kohli and Gambhir received fines from the IPL equal to 100% of their match fees.
Kohli was especially enthusiastic throughout the fielding innings as RCB successfully defended 126. After taking a catch to remove Krunal Pandya, he muttered to the audience, maybe in retaliation to Gambhir’s muting of the Bengaluru supporters following the last-ball victory in the first match between the two teams earlier in the season.
