Lionel Messi Transfer: It has almost become sure that Lionel Messi will not be staying at PSG when his contract expires at the end of the season. It is also confirmed that Barcelona are trying to bring back the prodigal son. However, the reason Leo Messi left Camp Nou was major financial issues that still remain. For that reason, Barcelona are having to put forward viability plans in front of La Liga President Javier Tebas. However, La Liga are not convinced. Follow La Liga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
PSG have tried to renew their contract with Lionel Messi since the World Cup in December, 2022. However, the player has rejected all deals that PSG presented. Barcelona have been trying for some time to manage their financial issues, so that they can bring back Leo Messi. However, they are facing the obstacle of coming up with a viable plan to present to La Liga. Time is also running out of their hands.
There’s still no green light from La Liga to Barcelona for Leo Messi’s return. Feeling of “very complicated” plan as president Tebas stated. 🔵🔴🇦🇷 #FCB

Reportedly, Barcelona need to cut €200 million ($218 million) from their wage bill. Some reports even say that the amount could be nearly €350 million ($385 million). Whichever the number may be, it’s confirmed that Barcelona need to sell a number of players and need their players to take pay cuts. In order to cut down such a huge amount off of their wage bill, they will need to do both.
As per Gerard Romero, a Spanish journalist, Barcelona have presented La Liga with a viability plan. In the plan, Barcelona showed they want to sell 2 big players to bring enough money. This will make it possible for them to bring in four more players. However, apparently, the cost-cutting plans are actually spread over three years. This has not gone well with Javier Tebas as he called the plan “very complicated”.
As per reports, Tebas wants Barcelona to cut their costs much quicker than their plan says. Barcelona put in place several ‘levers’ since they started their journey to financial recovery. However, these ‘levers’ and sales of assets have not been enough. Barcelona’s Vice President said before this, “There are two months left in which we can work with Tebas and present him with the viability, cash flow and income plan.”
It still does not seem like Barcelona have a lot of time on their hand to get the Argentine star signed. Inter Miami, owned by English legend David Beckham expressed their interest in bringing Messi to the club. Beckham has already visited PSG and met with the players including Messi. Messi also has been offered huge amounts from Saudi clubs. Hence, if Barcelona do not manage to convince La Liga soon, they might just lose this incredible opportunity to bring back Messi.
