In his IPL career which has seen him play for Chennai Super Kings, PBKS, Kolkata Knight Riders and MI, Piyush has taken 170 wickets in 173 matches at an average of 26.63 and an economy rate of 7.86. His best bowling figures are 4/17. He is now the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL, behind West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo (183), Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (177).

Speaking about Chawla’s spell against the Royals, the right-arm spinner scalped two crucial wickets in his four over spell as he gave away 34 runs. Chawla scalped two big wickets of Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal. The senior spinner has also joined the top leading wicket-takers list as he claimed the fifth spot in the table. So far he has scalped 13 wickets in just eight outings. He averages 17.38 in the current edition.
