Earlier, Pujara hit 115 runs on 163 balls, which included 13 fours and a six in the first innings against Durham. In county cricket, this is his seventh century. In response to Durham’s first-inning total of 376 runs, his contribution enabled his team score 335 runs overall. Ultimately, Sussex won the game by two wickets.

Pujara performed admirably for Sussex the year before. In eight Championship games last season, he amassed 1,094 runs at an average of 109.40. He finished behind Sam Northeast (1,189 for Glamorgan), Haseeb Hameed (1,235 for Nottinghamshire), and Wayne Madsen (1,273 for Derbyshire) as the division’s fourth-highest run scorer.

The middle-order batter’s century is a good signal for India as they gear up for the ICC World Test Championship final, which will start on June 7 at The Oval in London. Last year, Pujara put on a strong performance for India, scoring 409 runs at an average of 45.44 in five Tests and ten innings. He recorded a century, three half-centuries, and a best score of 102*.
