WTC Final 2023: Preparations are necessary before a big final. And as a result Rohit Sharma and Co are expected to play a practice game against County XI before the all important World Test Championship between India vs Australia. The BCCI are currently in conversation with the ECB to arrange for the practice game. The prime agenda would be to get some much needed red ball practice so that the Indian team can get acclimatized with the pitch and ground conditions. “We are in talks with the ECB if we can play a practice game. The idea is to have some red-ball practice before the final. We will know in a few days if the plan works out. It will help us in match simulations and acclimatise to the conditions,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.
Though the decision is yet to be official as the ECB are yet to agree to the request made by the BCCI. The main purpose of the practice game is that the Indian player get accustomed to the pitch and ground conditions in England.
“But yes, not all players will be available. Players who will be in IPL final will get a few days rest before joining practice in London,” the BCCI official concluded.
The senior BCCI went on to reveal that quite a few players will not be available for practice game against County XI. Currently, all the players are busy playing in the Indian Premier League. Moreover, the players who will play in the IPL 2023 finals will not be a part of the practice game. These players will get few days of rest before joining the squad and play in the WTC Finals.
