Yash Dayal: IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans’ captain Hardik Pandya on Tuesday provided a shocking update on pacer Yash Dayal. Notably, the youngster has not been in the Titans’ playing XI after the horrific last over against KKR where he was hit for 5 sixes. Skipper Pandya now has revealed that Dayal was not dropped but fell ill and lost 7-8 kg after that match due to a viral infection and the pressure he faced. Pandya also said that Dayal’s condition is not good enough for him to take the field yet and it will take some time before the pacer plays again. “He fell ill and lost 7-8 kg after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also, due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone’s loss is someone’s gain at the end of the day. It is going to take some time before we see him on the field”, revealed Hardik Pandya in the post-match presentation after win over MI.
Dayal was at the receiving end of a shocking win by KKR in their last game, where he was smashed for five back-to-back sixes by Rinku Singh in the final over. Despite needing 29 runs off the final six balls, Rinku Singh pulled off an impossible win for KKR. While Dayal was left heartbroken after being hit for back-to-back sixes, Rinku Singh was on cloud nine after his heroics.
In the absence of Dayal, Gujarat Titans brought in senior pacer Mohit Sharma, who has performed brilliantly so far, scalping 6 wickets in 4 matches with an economy rate of 6.15.
