Rishabh Pant Health Update: There is some good news for Rishabh Pant and millions of his fans. The star batter is all set to ditch the crutches in next two weeks and walk on his feet again. Pant has been on crutches since his terrible accident on December 30. He underwent lengthy surgery to reconstruct all three ligaments on his right knee. But he is recovering well and will walk again in two weeks’ time. However, good news end there as Pant’s return to cricketing action will take another year at least. He will miss the Asia Cup and World Cup 2023 for sure. The earliest return to field is January but that is also uncertain at the moment. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN

The left-hander reported to the NCA last Wednesday to begin his rehabilitation from the horrific accident on New Year’s Eve.

“Rishabh is recovering really well. But it is going to take another 6-7 months at least to be walking and stretching again. World Cup is a bit of a stretch for him at the moment. We just want him to recover completely before focusing on cricket again. It will take a lot of time for him to be back in competitive cricket,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Pant’s return as a wicketkeeper is uncertain given the extent of his injuries. He injured all three of his ligaments and will need to build strength to resume wicketkeeping. Rishabh will have to be in a squatting position for a long time. Hence, it is going to take longer to return as a keeper-batter. A return as a pure batter is also considered for the time being, with Pant considered an asset.

“We certainly hope that Rishabh will return to competitive cricket by the end of the year. But considering his injury, it is certainly doubtful. In fact, it is difficult to even give a timeline as we don’t know yet how is his knee going to do when he begins full-fledged training. So, we have to take a wait-and-see approach,” the BCCI official said.

The BCCI meanwhile have extended all the help for Pant to get back to his best sooner. His recovery is believed to be faster than anticipated but it will still take him 7-8 months to be match fit. Cricbuzz understands there were doubts whether Pant could play cricket at all, but those worries have been brushed aside by his recovery. However, he might need another surgery.
