IPL 2023: Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh put on a display of death bowling against the Mumbai Indians on Saturday as PBKS won a nail-biting match, fending off onslaught from Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green to record their fourth victory of the Indian Premier League 2023. While the Kings put in a valiant batting effort led by stand-in skipper Sam Curran, it was an Arshdeep Singh masterpiece that brought victory to the Men in Red. Arshdeep had a successful night with the ball, taking four wickets and out of them, he broke stumps on two clean-bowled dismissals. He also climbed to the first position in the IPL 2023 Purple Cap rankings with a total of 13 wickets. The skilled pacer posed with the broken stump and the purple hat following the game. Arshdeep, who had earlier struck out Ishan Kishan in the opening over of the Mumbai Indians’ inning and then was in charge of Suryakumar Yadav’s game-changing dismissal, was tasked with defending 16 runs off the last over. The most crucial thing Arshdeep accomplished was to prevent the power hitter Tim David from striking on the opening delivery. Following that, the Punjab seamer just bowled some excellent death deliveries.
He tricked Tilak Varma with a leg-side bouncer before putting him down with a brilliant yorker that split the middle stump in half on the subsequent ball. Additionally, on the very next delivery, he broke the middle stump of another left-hander, Nehal Wadhera, into two and sent him packing. After that, the Kings’ completion of the game was only a formality given as they secured two crucial points.

The Kings, who have won four of their first seven games, are tied in the points standings with the Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals. This was a huge win for the Punjab team as they were without their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan, pacer Kagiso Rabada, and a partially fit Liam Livingstone. The Kings will next play the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, April 28, at home in Mohali.
