It is the first time 3 Afghanistan players will feature in a single IPL feature. Previously two Afghanistan stars have featured, with Rashid Khan making the most appearances. Noor Ahmad is making his first IPL start, having made his debut last game as an impact sub. Naveen-ul-Haq also made his debut earlier this season, replacing Mark Wood in the line up.
Before the game, several Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants stars gathered to celebrate eid together. Alongside Afghan trio of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and Naveen ul-Haq, India stars Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan also joined in.
