IPL 2023: MS Dhoni has given a major update regarding his retirement from cricket. After Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the M Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni intimated that the current Indian Premier League 2023 season would be his last.
Chennai Super Kings secured a resounding victory at home thanks to Devon Conway’s gutsy 77* and Ravindra Jadeja’s outstanding bowling performance.

MS Dhoni breaks another record!
When Dhoni took his 208th catch to dismiss Aiden Markram in the first innings at Chepauk, he eclipsed Quinton de Kock in the list of most T20 catches. Dinesh Karthik (205), Kamran Akmal (172), and Denesh Ramdin (150) are listed after them in the standings.
Talking about his catch, Dhoni in the post-match presentation said: “Still they didn’t give me best catch. I felt it was a fantastic catch. Not because of your ability but because of such a wrong position I was in to take it. Long time back I still remember one game – Rahul Dravid was keeping and he caught one like that.”
Thala added, “You get old, that’s the only time you get more experienced, unless you are Sachin paaji and you start playing at 15-16. Definitely getting old, can’t shy away from that.”

MSD Retirement soon?
Since Dhoni hasn’t played in a competitive cricket match outside the IPL since quitting international cricket in 2020, many believe that the 16th IPL season is his last dance.
“Whatever said and done, last phase of my career, important to enjoy it. It feels good to be here. They (Chepauk crowd) have given a lot of love and affection. They always stay late to listen to me,” MSD said.
CSK will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
