IPL 2023 Playoffs Schedule: IPL Playoffs will return to Chennai after a long gap. Chennai will host Qualifier 1 and Eliminator at Chepauk on May 23 and May 24. Ahmedabad will host the Qualifier 2 like last season on May 26 as well as the Final on May 28. Despite announcing IPL 2023 Full Schedule, BCCI withheld playoff fixtures. But with ICC WTC Final, BCCI has decided to wrap IPL 16 by May 28. Follow Indian Premier League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
“The playoffs and final will be played from 23rd May to 28th May 2023 in Chennai and Ahmedabad. The Qualifier 1 will be held on 23rd May at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium followed by the Eliminator on 24th May. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the TATA IPL final on 26th and 28th May respectively,” BCCI said in a statement.
The 16th IPL began on April 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s biggest cricketing arena. The venue also hosted the final of the league’s last edition in 2022.
The 2022 edition was played across four venues in Mumbai and Pune but the play-offs and the final were held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. In this edition, the league reverted to the usual home and away format.
The league phase concludes on May 21 with a clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru.
But the fixtures potentially hint at MS Dhoni farewell match at Chepauk. If CSK don’t qualify for the playoffs, Dhoni could play his last game for CSK at home on May 14 against Kolkata Knight Riders. But if CSK do qualify, Dhoni will play in Qualifier 1 or Eliminator at Chepauk.
However, if CSK sail to the final, a record crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium will witness Dhoni magic for one last time.
