Virat Kohli Captaincy: PBKS vs RCB LIVE – To every fans’ delight, Virat Kohli has returned as the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain against Punjab Kings on Thursday. While Faf du Plessis doesn’t completely miss out, he will only feature as an Impact Sub. With a rib injury, Du Plessis won’t be able to field. After quitting captaincy in 2022 following South Africa tour, this is the first time, Kohli is leading a team following an absence of 464 days. He stepped down from the RCB captaincy following IPL 2021 campaign. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“Faf potentially can’t be fielding today, so he’ll be playing as an impact player, switching with Vyshak. We got to do what we wanted, we would have batted first, the pitch could get slow, and some scruff marks will help the bowlers go deep into the game. Taking one game at a time, focusing on our own game, and making the most of crunch situations, we haven’t done that so far in the team. No other changes for us,” Virat Kohli said at the toss.

As it was expected, Virat Kohli received a rousing reception from Mohali crowd. With form deserting him, Kohli decided to step down from captaincy duty to focus on his batting in 2022.

While he struggled for an extended period. But at the Asia Cup 2023, he roared back in form with maiden T20 century. With a breathtaking match-winning knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, he signalled the return of the King.

Since his return to form, the Kohli run machine has once again started rolling. He has scored centuries in all formats, notching up 75 international centuries.

However, with RCB batting first, fans will expect Kohli to end his century drought in IPL. His last IPL century came in 2019 against KKR at Eden Gardens. With Mohali being one of his favourite venues where he played a match-winning knock against Australia, he will look to break the jinx. Kohli has already scored two half-centuries in five innings this season, taking his tally to 220 runs.
