IPL 2023: Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has been receiving plaudits from fans and former cricket players for his efforts against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2023. However, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has said something concerning about the bowling all-rounder. Arjun could need to alter his bowling action, in Latif’s opinion, or else his pace might become a significant problem. Watch the video below. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN

“He’s in his initial stage. He has to do a lot of hard work. His alignment isn’t good, he won’t be able to generate pace,” Latif said on his official YouTube channel ‘Caught Behind’.

“If a good biomechanical consultant guides him, maybe he can add some pace to his bowling. It’s quite a touchy subject, coaching and changing a player. Sachin could’ve done that himself but he relied on domestic cricket for that. Your base has to be strong. When he lands, he goes out instead of coming in. His balance isn’t good, and that’s impacting his pace. But again, it’s still in the initial stage. He can go till 135kmph, he’s a good batter. He can be a good player in 2-3 years,” Latif further said.

The former Pakistani wicketkeeper further claimed that Arjun Tendulkar’s thinking would have been different if he had been playing for a different team because of the influence of his father Sachin Tendulkar.

“If he was playing for some other franchise, say Sunrisers Hyderabad, his attitude would be quite different. Right now, his father is also in the dressing room. His fatherly roles should now be in his (non-cricketing) life,” Latif further said.

Tendulkar junior claimed his first IPL wicket when he removed Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Tuesday night during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last week, the 23-year-old made his league debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders but only bowled two overs—both in the powerplay. However, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma handed Arjun the last over in the SRH match and gave the 23-year-old bowling all-arounder the task to defend 20 runs. In the end, Arjun performed admirably as he only gave up five runs.
