Olympiacos has already sacked three managers this season and are in search of a replacement. Gerrard’s good relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis, who is also in charge of Nottingham Forest makes him one of the candidates. If the Liverpool legend accepts the offer, he might be managing a Champions League team next summer, as Olympiacos are only 6 points behind the UCL spot.

However, Gerrard is not the only option, the Greek team is looking for. They have contacted former Milan and Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso. According to reports, Gattuso has asked for a 2-week time to consider the offer. The Milan legend might become the next manager, but the fans are not happy with the scenario and have expressed strong opposition through social media.

Club hero Esteban Cambiasso and Al-Ain manager Serhiy Rebrov are also the other options, Olympiacos have been linked with. Former Sevilla, Villarreal and Valencia boss, Marcelino was also offered the role, but he rejected it.

Steven Gerrard’s Managerial Career

After managing the youth at Liverpool Academy, Gerrard joined Rangers in 2018. In the 2020-21 season, Gerrard led Rangers through a record-breaking season, claiming back-to-back derby wins over rivals Celtic, and won the Scottish Premier League without losing a single game.

The successful season at Rangers attracted several clubs, and Premier League side Aston Villa managed to secure his services in 2021 after sacking Dean Smith. He led Villa to finish 14th in that season. However, Gerrard only managed to secure 2 wins out of the first 12 games played in the next season, which forced Villa to sack him.

Gerrard has been linked with multiple job roles like PSG and Trabzonspor but is yet to sign for a team.
