OpenSecrets reports that in the 2022 election cycle, Anheuser-Busch and its associates donated $514,375 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and $464,505 to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

During this year’s NCAA basketball tournament, Bud Light teamed with Mulvaney, a transgender TikTok personality, much to the chagrin of many conservatives, who promptly began a boycott of the company.

On the day of the women’s championship game, Mulvaney participated in an Instagram contest sponsored by Bud Light and was filmed drinking the beverage.

Alissa Heinerscheid, the vice president of marketing for Bud Light, caused further dissatisfaction among customers when it was revealed that she had said she had been given the mission of “reinventing” the brand by shifting it away from its “fratty” roots and “out of touch” humour.

More than a week into the dispute, Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth issued a statement on Friday that seemed to fail to please either side of the ongoing discussion.
