The two fighters again reappeared for a rematch in UFC 251 in July 2020. This was a more competitive fight as Max Holloway put forward one of his best fights, but still lost to Alexander Volkanovski through a split decision.

UFC 276 saw Alexander Volkanovski successfully defend his featherweight title again against Holloways with a convincing unanimous decision victory.

Although Max Holloway has been defeated thrice by Volkanovski, the former champion is still not willing to back out. He still believes that he can establish his victory and reclaim his lost title if both fighters decide on meeting each other for a fourth time.

With the exception of his three setbacks against Volkanovski, Holloway has eliminated the rest of the competition from the category.

Alexander Volkanovski after reclaiming the featherweight title, had decided to challenge Islam Makhachev, to move up in the weights category. He was also determined on being the lightweight champion during the bout. But unfortunately, luck wasn’t in his favour as Islam Makhachev won the bout based on the decision.

Since then, Alexander decided to return back to the featherweight category. Volkanovski will be fighting against the interim UFC featherweight champion Yair Rodriguez. If he successfully defends his title against the champion again, then a quadrilogy fight is bound to take place between the former featherweight champion and ‘The Great’.

With his unanimous decision win over the No. 4 featherweight contender, Holloway showed that he is still a legitimate danger to Volkanovski’s title.
